A Hull based modular buildings manufacturer has moved into new premises to meet its rapid expansion plans.

Qualitas Building Systems was established just 16 months ago in a 4,500 sq ft unit on Chamberlain Road, east Hull.

The company builds a range of products from single portable prefabricated buildings to multi-storey complexes.

Within months of opening, the company moved into an adjoining 10,000 sq ft unit to cope with increasing demand for its products.

Now it is set to double in size after taking on the new premises in Stoneferry Park, Foster Street, Hull.

The new 15,000 sq ft unit brings the total size of its operation to about 30,000 sq ft.

Kevin McConnell, sole director of Qualitas Building Systems, described the company’s growth as “incredible”.

He said it was partly due to a large joint contract the company had secured to supply buildings to a gas compression pipeline project in Egypt.

“It’s quite an exciting project for us and we are about to begin manufacturing at the new premises,” he said.

The company employs 14 people but, because of its rapid growth, expects to more than double that by the end of the month.

Its predicted turnover for the next financial year is £4m. Mr McConnell said: “As we manufacture predominately for the trade, we find that trading partnerships set up between ourselves and trade agencies have been a key factor in the growth of the company.

“I’m also surrounded by a very competent and enthusiastic team who have helped with our success.”

Mr McConnell said the company would be manufacturing new buildings from the Stoneferry Park site and continuing its refurbishment operations in Chamberlain Road.

The building is the second large letting on Stoneferry Park this year.

The deal was managed by Hessle based property agent PPH Commercial.

PPH director Ben Medhurst said: “We are delighted to have let this modern manufacturing facility to Qualitas and would like to wish them every success in their new premises.”

Mr Medhurst said a further 6,200 sq ft of warehousing would become available on the site from May 1.
